About Us

The growing population of childhood cancer survivors compelled pediatric oncology professionals to realize that curing the disease is simply not enough. In order to effectively address the needs of survivors, pediatric oncologists realized that curing the disease was just the beginning – the continuum of care lasts a lifetime.

Current research indicates that over two-thirds of childhood cancer survivors experience at least one “late effect” as a result of their disease or treatment. These may include secondary malignancies, affect heart, endocrine, sensory or reproductive system as well as affect a person emotionally, developmentally, cognitively, spiritually and socially.

There are currently more than 300,000 survivors of childhood cancer. Beyond the Cure was created just for them.

Beyond the Cure is a survivorship program of The National Children’s Cancer Society.
