The N.C.C.S. Beyond the Cure program hosts teleconferences on a variety issues and concerns experienced by survivors and their families after completion of treatment for childhood cancer. These teleconferences provide you with current information from leading national experts without leaving your home or office.

Survivors, leave your parents at home! Come celebrate with other adolescent and young adult childhood cancer survivors treated at Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
Saturday, Nov. 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This celebration will include dinner at The Palace Grill, prizes and an open forum featuring cancer survivors Johnny Imerman, Matthew Zachary and George Lemperis plus Gold Medal Olympic Speed Skater Dan Jansen.
The Palace Grill is located at 1408 West Madison Street in Chicago.
AGE RECOMMENDATION: 16 and up
*If needed, a bus will leave Advocate Hope Children's Hospital at 4 p.m. and return at 9 p.m.

There is NO CHARGE for attending this event. It is fully funded from an unrestricted grant from The National Children's Cancer Society's Beyond the Cure Program.

This is a free conference for adolescent (age 12 and older) and young adult cancer survivors, regardless of where they were treated. Some topics to be discussed are late effects, transition to adult care, insurance, school and college accomodations, and healthy choices for a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Laura Martin, Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio
Dr. Stephanie Savelli, Medical Director of the Survivorship Program at Akron Children's Hospital, Akron, Ohio

Matthew Tullis, a childhood cancer survivor and Associate Professor of English at Ashland University, will speak about his journey and triumph over cancer, followed by an adolescent and young adult survivor panel.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

This event is supported by a grant from The National Children's Cancer Society and sponsored by the Survivorship Program at Akron Children's Hospital.

This conference focuses on issues and concerns experienced during childhood cancer treatment and beyond the cure. The emphasis is on educating families and survivors on how to handle issues that may occur during treatment and on aspects of healthy living that can impact how they handle any long-term effects of a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Medical professionals and families will have the opportunity to learn about the latest research and best approaches for survivorship and wellness. Parents of children with cancer (on and off treatment), survivors age 14 and up and health care professionals are invited to attend the conference.

This continuing nursing education activity has been submitted for approval to the Missouri Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
